Since the last 2 weeks in Indonesia there have been 3 major earthquakes that hit the Lombok District. This earthquake was also felt in Bali Province. The largest earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 SR occurred on August 8, 2018 in the North Lombok District, West Nusa Tenggara. The earthquake also caused thousands of residents to flee as their homes collapsed.
Currently, thousands of people still live in refugee camps, they have not dared to return home because there are still frequent aftershocks.
According to the Indonesian Disaster Management Agency, currently there are 321 people who died. And the number of refugees as many as 270,168 people spread over thousands of points. The number of refugees is also expected to increase considering that not all have been properly recorded.
When our Team from Mercy Indonesia visited the refugee camps in Menggala Village, in North Lombok Distric, many earthquake victims lost their homes and desperately needed help which included:
– Fast food,
– Mineral water,
– Clean water,
– Tents / tarps / mats,
– Clothing / blanket,
– Enhancers of nutritional food (milk / vitamins),
– Trauma healing services,
– Public kitchen,
– Health services,
– School supplies,
– And other basic needs.
